A century ago, nearly 100 people lived in this pretty little place, now a historic site. There was a school, and the village hummed activity as people made their living, each season bringing its own pleasures and jobs.
Today Mathonex remains a very special place with its beautiful old buildings, many now restored, and its lovely setting. Animals graze flower filled pastures. Orchards surround the houses.
